Sales Engineer


Deerhold Japan, an American software startup in Tokyo is looking for a Technical Sales Manager. This startup is a wholly owned subsidiary of American holding company Deerhold, Ltd. We are located in Shibuya and we have a small and growing team in Japan and a larger team at our offshore center in Kathmandu, Nepal, and Boston.

We are primarily focused on allowing entrepreneurs in Japan to leverage a very cost-effective and high-quality offshore resource model our team has developed over the years. We are looking for a candidate with a unique combination of technology, business acumen, sales, and communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to quickly understand an array of services offered through our two business models 1) Software Project Outsourcing and 2) Software Developer Deployment -allowing our engineers to work from client’s offices in software development using but not limited to UI/UX design, quality control, data analytics, IoT and artificial intelligence; and articulate a concise business case for how we can help potential customers.

This is a small-office environment in a growing, diverse company. As such, you will be entrusted with a broad range of responsibilities, allowing for personal and professional growth – both in sales and engineering. We believe in a very flexible work environment. Technical Sales Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations and lead Deerhold Japan’s sales and engineering work. This position will be reporting to the Vice President.


Primary responsibilities

  • Search and generate new clients who might benefit from our services offered through two core business models Software Project Outsourcing and offshore software development
  • Understand client's business model, cost constraints, design goals, and decision criteria and present solutions that align customer requirements and satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price, and delivery
  • Work with Deerhold’s team in closing project deals and assure execution as per the contract by managing and interpreting their requirements and needs
  • Collaborate with Deerhold’s offshore team in Kathmandu and management team in the US to maximize Deerhold’s services impact with the customer


Required Skills

  • Native Japanese Speaker with basic English communication skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience with a solid technical background and an up-to- date working knowledge of the industry
  • Software sales experience
  • Self-motivation and an entrepreneurial results-driven attitude
  • Excellent time-management skills – and the ability to prioritize workload balancing multiple demands from many prospects
  • Good sense of humor and ability to motivate a team and build relationships quickly and effectively

Contract Term

This is a full-time contractual position for 3 months, and subject to renewal upon successful completion of the first term.
